Illuminated Initial Nursery Name Art
A storybook capital in ultramarine and gold, with a fox cub asleep against it.
About Illuminated Initial Nursery Name Art
Illuminated Initial borrows from the decorated capitals of old storybooks: a deep ultramarine letter wrapped in burnished gold, fine white filigree and winding ivy, set on warm ivory inside a narrow vine border that runs around all four edges. A baby fox naps at the foot of the letter, and the name follows below in script.
The alphabet was painted in advance, one capital per letter, and each was checked before it joined the collection, so what you preview is the painting that prints. Midnight Initial is the same mechanism after dark, in gold on deep blue. Portrait at 4:5, made to order in the sizes and formats offered here.

Questions, answered
Do I pay anything before I see my piece?
No. Seeing your piece is free and needs no card. You only pay if you order a print.
How is my piece made?
With AI. Image models create new artwork from the details you add, guided by styles our team designs and tests. No one reviews it before you do, so what you see on the page is what we print.
How long does it take?
Your first piece usually appears on this page in a minute or two, and the other print shapes and sizes follow a few minutes later. Add your email if you want them saved to an account.
What if it isn't quite right?
Change the style or the wording and try again — it's free. Nothing is printed until you order.
What happens to the details I enter?
We use them only to create your pieces. They stay private to you and are sent to Google's Gemini image service to generate the artwork. Details you add but never submit are deleted after 7 days.
What sizes and formats can I order?
Your piece is prepared in the print shapes it suits, so you can pick what fits your wall. We offer a wide range of portrait, landscape and square formats from 6×6″ to 40×60″ — framed paper prints, canvas or framed canvas, or metal prints.
How long does printing take?
Printing takes 2–5 business days once you order, then your print ships from the print partner nearest you.
Is each initial painted separately?
Yes, ahead of time. There is one finished illuminated capital for each letter of the alphabet, checked before it joined the collection, so choosing a letter simply picks its painting. What you preview is what arrives.
Can the initial differ from the first name?
It can. The initial is prefilled from the name, but you may pick any letter from A to Z, for example to use a middle name or a family name. Accented initials are shown on their plain letter.
What script is the name written in?
A flowing copperplate-style script. Names of one to sixteen characters fit, with one space, hyphens and apostrophes, and the form warns you about any character the script does not include.
Which birth details can be recorded?
The full name, the date and time of birth on a single line, and the weight in metric or imperial units, each set in a fine light serif on the ivory ground. All are optional.
Why is the fox asleep?
It keeps the heirloom mood calm and quiet. The fox is part of the painted letter, so every initial in this style comes with its own curled-up cub, tucked in among the ivy.
Which shape is it painted in?
Portrait, at 4:5, with the border running around all four edges.
Will the name be spelled exactly right?
Yes. On every style the name is either set in real type or checked letter by letter before the design reaches you, and nothing is printed until you have seen it. If a style cannot draw a character, the form tells you before you start.
Why is there a length limit on the name?
Each scene holds the name its own way — a balloon per letter, a board on the side of a bus, letters the animals lean on — so each style has room for a certain number of letters. If a name is too long for one style, another usually fits it.
Can I add the birth date, time and weight?
Yes, all three are optional. They are set in small type beneath the art, and on most styles you can move or resize each line on the preview. The weight can be in kilograms or in pounds and ounces.
Can I order before the baby arrives?
Yes. Leave the birth details blank and the print carries the name alone — a baby-shower gift that still works once the baby is home.
What occasions is nursery name art for?
Decorating a new baby's room, a baby shower or naming-day gift, a first birthday, or a keepsake for grandparents. The name is the whole idea, so the piece still belongs on the wall long after the nursery becomes a bedroom.
How much does it cost?
Seeing your piece is free — you only pay if you order a print. The exact price of each size and finish is shown on this page once your piece is made.
