About Gilded Map Print

Gilded renders your map in a warm, antique-gold ochre over a cool, dark slate-gray ground. Roads and waterways carry the gold, and parks sit a shade lighter than the slate, so the city reads as a network of fine warm lines on a dark sheet. The gold is printed as flat ink, not foil, so it has no sparkle.

The streets come from real map data for the place you frame and are restyled with AI. The map runs to the edges of the print, with your title, names, caption, coordinates and date in a dark panel, set in real type. Next to Midnight, which is white on near-black, Gilded feels warmer and dressier; next to Round, it fills the whole rectangle instead of an oval window.

Do I pay anything before I see my piece?

No. Seeing your piece is free and needs no card. You only pay if you order a print.

How is my piece made?

With AI. Image models create new artwork from the details you add, guided by styles our team designs and tests. No one reviews it before you do, so what you see on the page is what we print.

How long does it take?

Your first piece usually appears on this page in a minute or two, and the other print shapes and sizes follow a few minutes later. Add your email if you want them saved to an account.

What if it isn't quite right?

Change the style or the wording and try again — it's free. Nothing is printed until you order.

What happens to the details I enter?

We use them only to create your pieces. They stay private to you and are sent to Google's Gemini image service to generate the artwork. Details you add but never submit are deleted after 7 days.

What sizes and formats can I order?

Your piece is prepared in the print shapes it suits, so you can pick what fits your wall. We offer a wide range of portrait, landscape and square formats from 6×6″ to 40×60″ — framed paper prints, canvas or framed canvas, or metal prints.

How long does printing take?

Printing takes 2–5 business days once you order, then your print ships from the print partner nearest you.

Is the gold on a Gilded map print metallic?

No. The gold is an antique-gold ink printed flat on the format you choose, with no foil, leaf or reflective highlights. It reads as warm gold against the dark slate ground, which is why the style is called Gilded rather than foil. For a warmer, copper tone inside an oval window, look at the Round style.

Which places look best in the Gilded style?

Places with a dense street pattern or a strong river or coastline, because the gold lines carry the whole picture on a dark ground. A city center or a harbor town reads well. A very rural area shows fewer lines, so zoom out until there is enough detail to fill the frame before you choose.

Is it a real map or an artistic impression?

Real. The streets, water and coastline come from map data for the place you pick; the style changes how they are drawn, not where they are. A local will recognise their street.

Can I mark a specific spot — our house, the restaurant, the church?

Centre the map on it — that is the most reliable way to feature one spot, and you see the result before you order.

Can I have more than one place on one piece?

One place per print for now. For two cities — where you met and where you live now — make two prints and hang them as a pair.

What about a place that is very small, or very large?

Frame the map however you like — a village fills a frame as well as a city does. A whole region or country works too; very large areas show less street detail.

What places can a custom map print show?

Any place that matters: the city where you met, your hometown, the neighbourhood of your first home, a stretch of coastline you keep coming back to, the town you got married in. If it is on the map, we can draw it.
