80s Family Portrait
Laser backdrop, matching denim, total sincerity.
About 80s Family Portrait
Remember the family photo everyone had taken in 1988? This is it, with your family in it. The tallest stand at the back and the rest are stacked in a tight pyramid in front, heads at staggered heights and chins tilted, against a mottled purple-and-teal backdrop crossed by neon laser beams in a soft studio haze. Everyone wears the same stonewashed denim jacket over a white T-shirt, or the same chunky knit sweater in teal, magenta and mustard.
It is made with AI from a few photos of each person. It is affectionate rather than mocking: the joke is the era, never anyone in the picture, and every face is completely sincere. It makes a fun birthday or Christmas present for parents who were there the first time.
Prices start at CA$91.00: Canvas from CA$91.00 (12″×16″) and Framed Poster from CA$103.00 (12″×16″).

Questions, answered
Do I pay anything before I see my piece?
No. Seeing your piece is free and needs no card. You only pay if you order a print.
How is my piece made?
With AI. Image models create new artwork from your photos and details, guided by styles our team designs and tests. No one reviews it before you do, so what you see on the page is what we print.
How long does it take?
Your first piece usually appears on this page in a minute or two, and the other print shapes and sizes follow a few minutes later. Add your email if you want them saved to an account.
What if it isn't quite right?
Change the style, a photo or the wording and try again — it's free. Nothing is printed until you order.
What if my print arrives damaged or misprinted?
Tell us within 14 days of delivery, with your order number and a photo, and we'll reprint it or refund you, whichever you prefer. You don't need to send it back. You approve the exact design before you order, so a print that doesn't match it counts as a misprint. Because each piece is made to order, we can't take it back if you change your mind.
What happens to my photos?
We use them only to create your pieces. They stay private to you and are sent to Google's Gemini image service to generate the artwork. Photos you add but never submit are deleted after 7 days.
What sizes and formats can I order?
Your piece is prepared in the print shapes it suits, so you can pick what fits your wall. We offer a wide range of portrait, landscape and square formats from 6×6″ to 40×60″ — framed paper prints, canvas or framed canvas, or metal prints.
How long does printing take?
Printing takes 2–5 business days once you order, then your print ships from the print partner nearest you.
Is the point to make us look silly?
No. The portrait is warm and sincere, the way those studio sittings were. The fun is in the laser backdrop, the matching outfits and the stacked pose, never in anyone's face, body or age. Everyone looks like themselves on a good day, which is exactly why it works as a present.
How many people can be stacked in?
One to six, pets included. A single sitter gets the classic solo pose, chin resting on one fist and looking back over the shoulder, a couple leans in together, and a family builds the pyramid. With five or six people, choose a larger print so faces stay big enough to enjoy.
Can we choose denim or knitwear?
The scene puts everyone in one matching outfit so the group reads as a set. If you prefer one look over the other, write denim or knitwear in the notes box and we pass that on with your photos. Either way, the outfits match and the backdrop glows.
Do we need old photos from the 80s?
No, current photos are best. Upload one to three clear, front-facing photos of each person, or one group photo where every face is visible. The portrait is made with AI from those pictures and shown as a free preview, and you pay only if you order a print.
Do the photos need to be taken together?
No — that is the point. Each person comes from their own photos and we compose them into one scene. Different years, places and lighting all work.
How many people can be in the portrait?
Up to the card limit on the form — enough for a large family including pets. The form shows how many people and pets fit in one portrait.
Can our dog be in the family portrait?
Yes. Add your dog — or your cat — as a card of its own, with one to three clear photos of its face, and it appears in the portrait beside everyone else, in the same style. A pet takes a card just like a person, so it counts toward the same limit.
Can I include someone who has passed away?
Yes, from older photos — many families make one for exactly this reason. A clear view of the face is what matters, not the age of the photo.
Will the faces actually look like us?
The style sets the medium; the likeness comes from your photos. If someone is not quite right, add a clearer photo of them and try again — it's free, and nothing is printed until you order.
What occasions is a custom family portrait for?
The moments a family changes shape: a new baby, a wedding, an anniversary, grandparents far away — or simply finally getting everyone, dog included, into one frame.
