About Suitcase Pet Portrait — Oil Painting

Funny custom pet portrait from your photo: your dog or cat in a suitcase, as an oil painting. The suitcase pet portrait is for every animal who senses a trip coming and climbs in first. Your dog or cat curls inside the open lower half of a suitcase on the floor, among neatly folded clothes, with the chin over the rim and the eyes turned up to you. Soft daylight from a bedroom window falls across the scene.

Impasto gives it warmth and weight. In our example the floorboards, the dark case and the folded shirts are built from thick, ridged strokes, while a curly coat becomes a tumble of textured paint. The Cobalt Line version is a cool blue drawing and Misty Sanshui a soft ink study; this is the cozy one. Our AI creates it from your photos, and it makes a tender gift for someone who travels often.

How it works

  1. Choose your styles

Pick the looks you want to see and, where it matters, the pose.

  2. Add your pets

A card for each pet, with one to three clear photos; a well-lit face with visible eyes matters most.

  3. See your portraits

They appear on this page within a couple of minutes; choose the size, paper or canvas, and frame.

  4. Only pay if you fall for one

No deposit, no obligation — if none of the designs feels right, you owe nothing.

  5. We print and ship

We start printing as soon as you order. Making it takes 2–5 business days, then it ships from the print partner nearest you.

Questions, answered

Do I pay anything before I see my piece?

No. Seeing your piece is free and needs no card. You only pay if you order a print.

How is my piece made?

With AI. Image models create new artwork from your photos and details, guided by styles our team designs and tests. No one reviews it before you do, so what you see on the page is what we print.

How long does it take?

Your first piece usually appears on this page in a minute or two, and the other print shapes and sizes follow a few minutes later. Add your email if you want them saved to an account.

What if it isn't quite right?

Change the style, a photo or the wording and try again — it's free. Nothing is printed until you order.

What happens to my photos?

We use them only to create your pieces. They stay private to you and are sent to Google's Gemini image service to generate the artwork. Photos you add but never submit are deleted after 7 days.

What sizes and formats can I order?

Your piece is prepared in the print shapes it suits, so you can pick what fits your wall. We offer a wide range of portrait, landscape and square formats from 6×6″ to 40×60″ — framed paper prints, canvas or framed canvas, or metal prints.

How long does printing take?

Printing takes 2–5 business days once you order, then your print ships from the print partner nearest you.

Does the suitcase scene work for cats?

Yes, and cats are notorious for this move. The composition is written for any pet, so a cat curls in the case with its chin on the rim just as a dog does. The examples show a dog; your cat's face, coloring and markings come from your own photos.

Can two pets fit in the suitcase?

Yes. Add a card for each pet and they are composed curled together in one open suitcase, chins over the rim and eyes up to the camera. Two small or medium pets look natural. For larger dogs or more animals the case gets full, so choose a larger print so each face reads clearly.

Which photos work best for an impasto suitcase portrait?

Choose a clear photo of the face with the eyes visible, ideally one where your pet is lying down or curled up, since the pose rests the head on the rim. The thick brushwork simplifies fur, so strong daylight and sharp focus on the eyes and nose do the most to keep the portrait recognizable.

What kind of photo works best?

A sharp, well-lit photo where the face fills the frame and both eyes are visible. Daylight beats flash; eye level beats looking down. One good photo is enough — two or three from different angles help.

Can you put more than one pet in the same portrait?

Yes — add a card for each pet, up to five, with their own photos. They do not need to have been photographed together: each animal comes from its own pictures and we compose them into one portrait.

Will it look like my pet, or like a generic dog in that style?

Like yours. The style sets the medium and the mood; the face, markings and expression come from your photos. If a detail is off, add a clearer photo or a note and try again — it's free, and nothing is printed until you order.

I'd like a portrait of a pet who has passed away. Do old photos work?

They do. Scanned prints and older phone photos are fine as long as the face is visible.

What occasions is a custom pet portrait for?

Birthdays, gotcha-day anniversaries, a new puppy or kitten, a gift for the pet parent who has everything — and memorials for a pet who is no longer here. A custom pet portrait is what people give when flowers feel too small.
