About Custom Horse Portrait

A custom horse portrait from your photo: your horse as an impasto oil painting, with the look of thick palette-knife paint. Owners know every detail of their horse: the exact shade of a bay or chestnut coat, the shape of a star or a blaze, the way the forelock falls between the ears. Those details come from your photos.

The style then turns the coat into short directional strokes that catch the light along the neck and shoulder, and breaks the background into loose blocks of color so the horse stays the subject. A clear head-on shot over the stable door, or a side view in daylight, works best. Our AI makes the piece and shows it on this page before you pay. It suits a tack room, a hallway or a gift for a rider.

Prices start at NZ$74.00: Canvas from NZ$74.00 (8″×10″) and Framed Poster from NZ$79.00 (8″×10″).

How it works

  1. Choose your styles

Pick the looks you want to see and, where it matters, the pose.

  2. Add your pets

A card for each pet, with one to three clear photos; a well-lit face with visible eyes matters most.

  3. See your portraits

They appear on this page within a couple of minutes; choose the size, paper or canvas, and frame.

  4. Only pay if you fall for one

No deposit, no obligation — if none of the designs feels right, you owe nothing.

  5. We print and ship

We start printing as soon as you order. Making it takes 2–5 business days, then it ships from the print partner nearest you.

Questions, answered

Do I pay anything before I see my piece?

No. Seeing your piece is free and needs no card. You only pay if you order a print.

How is my piece made?

With AI. Image models create new artwork from your photos and details, guided by styles our team designs and tests. No one reviews it before you do, so what you see on the page is what we print.

How long does it take?

Your first piece usually appears on this page in a minute or two, and the other print shapes and sizes follow a few minutes later. Add your email if you want them saved to an account.

What if it isn't quite right?

Change the style, a photo or the wording and try again — it's free. Nothing is printed until you order.

What happens to my photos?

We use them only to create your pieces. They stay private to you and are sent to Google's Gemini image service to generate the artwork. Photos you add but never submit are deleted after 7 days.

What sizes and formats can I order?

Your piece is prepared in the print shapes it suits, so you can pick what fits your wall. We offer a wide range of portrait, landscape and square formats from 6×6″ to 40×60″ — framed paper prints, canvas or framed canvas, or metal prints.

How long does printing take?

Printing takes 2–5 business days once you order, then your print ships from the print partner nearest you.

Which photos of my horse work best?

A clear photo of the head and neck in daylight, taken from the front over the stable door or from the side, with the eye and the blaze or star in focus. A second photo from another angle helps with the mane and markings. Avoid photos where tack hides the face, or where the horse is far away in a field, because the likeness comes from the detail in your pictures.

Will the portrait keep my horse's coat color and markings?

Yes. The coat color, the shape of a star, stripe or blaze, white socks and the color of the mane all come from your photos, so a bay, chestnut, gray, palomino or paint horse keeps its own coloring. The impasto style then turns that coat into thick, directional strokes, so fine details such as dapples are simplified into dabs of color rather than drawn one by one.

What kind of photo works best?

A sharp, well-lit photo where the face fills the frame and both eyes are visible. Daylight beats flash; eye level beats looking down. One good photo is enough — two or three from different angles help.

Can you put more than one pet in the same portrait?

Yes — add a card for each pet, up to five, with their own photos. They do not need to have been photographed together: each animal comes from its own pictures and we compose them into one portrait.

Will it look like my pet, or like a generic dog in that style?

Like yours. The style sets the medium and the mood; the face, markings and expression come from your photos. If a detail is off, add a clearer photo or a note and try again — it's free, and nothing is printed until you order.

I'd like a portrait of a pet who has passed away. Do old photos work?

They do. Scanned prints and older phone photos are fine as long as the face is visible.

What occasions is a custom pet portrait for?

Birthdays, gotcha-day anniversaries, a new puppy or kitten, a gift for the pet parent who has everything — and memorials for a pet who is no longer here. A custom pet portrait is what people give when flowers feel too small.
