About Colored Pencil Pet Portrait

A custom pet portrait from your photo as a colored pencil drawing of your dog or cat, built one stroke at a time. Fine hatching follows the direction of the fur, short and dense around the eyes and muzzle, longer and looser along the back, and color is layered over color until the coat has depth, the way colored pencil builds a dark coat out of blues and browns.

The background stays light, with loose sketchy marks that let the paper texture show through, so the face is what you notice first. It is a print of a drawing look, made by our AI from your photos and shown on this page before you pay. Next to Blue Line Drawing, which uses a single ink color, Colored Pencil is softer and full of color.

Prices start at NZ$74.00: Canvas from NZ$74.00 (8″×10″) and Framed Poster from NZ$79.00 (8″×10″).

How it works

  1. Choose your styles

Pick the looks you want to see and, where it matters, the pose.

  2. Add your pets

A card for each pet, with one to three clear photos; a well-lit face with visible eyes matters most.

  3. See your portraits

They appear on this page within a couple of minutes; choose the size, paper or canvas, and frame.

  4. Only pay if you fall for one

No deposit, no obligation — if none of the designs feels right, you owe nothing.

  5. We print and ship

We start printing as soon as you order. Making it takes 2–5 business days, then it ships from the print partner nearest you.

Questions, answered

Do I pay anything before I see my piece?

No. Seeing your piece is free and needs no card. You only pay if you order a print.

How is my piece made?

With AI. Image models create new artwork from your photos and details, guided by styles our team designs and tests. No one reviews it before you do, so what you see on the page is what we print.

How long does it take?

Your first piece usually appears on this page in a minute or two, and the other print shapes and sizes follow a few minutes later. Add your email if you want them saved to an account.

What if it isn't quite right?

Change the style, a photo or the wording and try again — it's free. Nothing is printed until you order.

What happens to my photos?

We use them only to create your pieces. They stay private to you and are sent to Google's Gemini image service to generate the artwork. Photos you add but never submit are deleted after 7 days.

What sizes and formats can I order?

Your piece is prepared in the print shapes it suits, so you can pick what fits your wall. We offer a wide range of portrait, landscape and square formats from 6×6″ to 40×60″ — framed paper prints, canvas or framed canvas, or metal prints.

How long does printing take?

Printing takes 2–5 business days once you order, then your print ships from the print partner nearest you.

Is a colored pencil pet portrait a real drawing?

It has the look of a colored pencil drawing, with hatching, layered color and paper texture, but it is made with AI from your photos and then printed, not drawn by a person. That is why you can see it on this page in a minute or two, before paying, and order it on paper, canvas or metal. The pencil texture is part of the image; the print surface is flat.

How is Colored Pencil different from Blue Line Drawing?

Blue Line Drawing uses one deep-blue ink line and a few flat blue shapes on cream, so it is minimal and graphic. Colored Pencil is drawn in full color, with fine hatching that follows the fur and color layered over color, so it shows more of your pet's coat and shading. Choose Blue Line for a modern, quiet wall and Colored Pencil for a warmer, more detailed portrait.

What kind of photo works best?

A sharp, well-lit photo where the face fills the frame and both eyes are visible. Daylight beats flash; eye level beats looking down. One good photo is enough — two or three from different angles help.

Can you put more than one pet in the same portrait?

Yes — add a card for each pet, up to five, with their own photos. They do not need to have been photographed together: each animal comes from its own pictures and we compose them into one portrait.

Will it look like my pet, or like a generic dog in that style?

Like yours. The style sets the medium and the mood; the face, markings and expression come from your photos. If a detail is off, add a clearer photo or a note and try again — it's free, and nothing is printed until you order.

I'd like a portrait of a pet who has passed away. Do old photos work?

They do. Scanned prints and older phone photos are fine as long as the face is visible.

What occasions is a custom pet portrait for?

Birthdays, gotcha-day anniversaries, a new puppy or kitten, a gift for the pet parent who has everything — and memorials for a pet who is no longer here. A custom pet portrait is what people give when flowers feel too small.
