Retro Safari Nursery Name Art
Flat mid-century animals in mustard, rust and olive lean on the letters.
About Retro Safari Nursery Name Art
Gouache Safari sets the name in bold charcoal serif capitals on warm cream, then leans a young giraffe, a lion cub and a rhino calf against them. The animals are built from simple flat shapes in mustard, rust and olive with a dry-brush texture over the top, the giraffe's neck rising above the word, a paw or a tail wrapped round a stroke.
The letters are exact type from the start and the animals are painted around them for your order, with any crossed stroke stamped back on top and checked. Hugged Safari does the same in soft watercolor on a lighter palette; this one is flatter, warmer and more graphic. Two upright shapes, a tall 2:3 and a 4:5.
Prices start at NZ$75.00: Canvas from NZ$75.00 (8″×12″) and Framed Poster from NZ$110.00 (12″×18″).

Questions, answered
Do I pay anything before I see my piece?
No. Seeing your piece is free and needs no card. You only pay if you order a print.
How is my piece made?
With AI. Image models create new artwork from the details you add, guided by styles our team designs and tests. No one reviews it before you do, so what you see on the page is what we print.
How long does it take?
Your first piece usually appears on this page in a minute or two, and the other print shapes and sizes follow a few minutes later. Add your email if you want them saved to an account.
What if it isn't quite right?
Change the style or the wording and try again — it's free. Nothing is printed until you order.
What happens to the details I enter?
We use them only to create your pieces. They stay private to you and are sent to Google's Gemini image service to generate the artwork. Details you add but never submit are deleted after 7 days.
What sizes and formats can I order?
Your piece is prepared in the print shapes it suits, so you can pick what fits your wall. We offer a wide range of portrait, landscape and square formats from 6×6″ to 40×60″ — framed paper prints, canvas or framed canvas, or metal prints.
How long does printing take?
Printing takes 2–5 business days once you order, then your print ships from the print partner nearest you.
Can the animals hide a letter?
No. Your letters are exact type, and the animals are painted around them. Where a paw or a chin crosses a stroke, the letter is stamped back on top so its shape stays whole, and a check confirms every letter is complete before you see the result.
What names work best?
Two to twelve characters in capitals, with a hyphen or an apostrophe allowed but no spaces. Short names give the animals big letters to lean on; with a long name the trio has more ground to cover, so fewer letters get a hug.
What does mid-century mean here?
A look borrowed from picture books of the 1950s and 60s: flat geometric animals, matte gouache with dry-brush edges and a fine speckled grain, in mustard, burnt orange and olive on a cream ground.
What goes beneath the name?
Three optional lines in a classic serif: the full name, which we fill in from the first name to start; the date of birth with the time; and the weight in kg or lb and oz.
Which proportions are there?
Two upright ones: a tall 2:3, the main composition, and a 4:5 that fits a wider range of standard frames.
How long until I see my version?
A few minutes after pressing See it. The animals are painted around your letters, the letters are checked, and a product with mockups is made for you to look at. Paying only happens if you choose to buy.
Will the name be spelled exactly right?
Yes. On every style the name is either set in real type or checked letter by letter before the design reaches you, and nothing is printed until you have seen it. If a style cannot draw a character, the form tells you before you start.
Why is there a length limit on the name?
Each scene holds the name its own way — a balloon per letter, a board on the side of a bus, letters the animals lean on — so each style has room for a certain number of letters. If a name is too long for one style, another usually fits it.
Can I add the birth date, time and weight?
Yes, all three are optional. They are set in small type beneath the art, and on most styles you can move or resize each line on the preview. The weight can be in kilograms or in pounds and ounces.
Can I order before the baby arrives?
Yes. Leave the birth details blank and the print carries the name alone — a baby-shower gift that still works once the baby is home.
What occasions is nursery name art for?
Decorating a new baby's room, a baby shower or naming-day gift, a first birthday, or a keepsake for grandparents. The name is the whole idea, so the piece still belongs on the wall long after the nursery becomes a bedroom.
How much does it cost?
Seeing your piece is free — you only pay if you order a print. Prints start at NZ$75.00, and the exact price of each size and finish is shown on this page.
