About Nocturnal Linocut Family Portrait

Nocturnal Linocut renders your family with fine ink linework, stipple and hatching, then fills clothes and details with flat, softly tinted color in sage, rose, cream and slate, as in a folk print. Everyone stands out against a deep charcoal, almost black ground, which gives the piece a hushed, night-time quiet.

It is made with AI from photos of each generation. The flat tints keep a big group orderly, and the dark ground makes faces and light clothing glow. It is calmer than the pink and cyan of Neon Linocut and less formal than the gold engraving of Gilded Obsidian. It suits a bedroom, a den or a library wall, and a gift for grandparents or a Christmas family print.

Prices start at £42.00: Canvas from £42.00 (8″×12″) and Framed Poster from £62.00 (12″×18″).

Questions, answered

Do I pay anything before I see my piece?

No. Seeing your piece is free and needs no card. You only pay if you order a print.

How is my piece made?

With AI. Image models create new artwork from your photos and details, guided by styles our team designs and tests. No one reviews it before you do, so what you see on the page is what we print.

How long does it take?

Your first piece usually appears on this page in a minute or two, and the other print shapes and sizes follow a few minutes later. Add your email if you want them saved to an account.

What if it isn't quite right?

Change the style, a photo or the wording and try again — it's free. Nothing is printed until you order.

What happens to my photos?

We use them only to create your pieces. They stay private to you and are sent to Google's Gemini image service to generate the artwork. Photos you add but never submit are deleted after 7 days.

What sizes and formats can I order?

Your piece is prepared in the print shapes it suits, so you can pick what fits your wall. We offer a wide range of portrait, landscape and square formats from 6×6″ to 40×60″ — framed paper prints, canvas or framed canvas, or metal prints.

How long does printing take?

Printing takes 2–5 business days once you order, then your print ships from the print partner nearest you.

Is a Nocturnal Linocut portrait carved from a real linoleum block?

No. The style recreates the look of a folk linocut print, with ink linework, hatching and flat color tints on a dark ground, and is printed to order on the format you choose. You get the printmaking feel without the variations of a real carved block, and every copy looks the same.

How is Nocturnal Linocut different from Neon Linocut?

Neon Linocut puts a calm, naturally rendered family in front of loud pink, yellow and cyan texture. Nocturnal Linocut does the opposite: the family is rendered in ink linework with soft folk tints on a quiet charcoal ground. Choose Neon for energy and color, and Nocturnal for a calmer, more traditional print look.

Do the photos need to be taken together?

No — that is the point. Each person comes from their own photos and we compose them into one scene. Different years, places and lighting all work.

How many people can be in the portrait?

Up to the card limit on the form — enough for a large family including pets. The form shows how many people and pets fit in one portrait.

Can our dog be in the family portrait?

Yes. Add your dog — or your cat — as a card of its own, with one to three clear photos of its face, and it appears in the portrait beside everyone else, in the same style. A pet takes a card just like a person, so it counts toward the same limit.

Can I include someone who has passed away?

Yes, from older photos — many families make one for exactly this reason. A clear view of the face is what matters, not the age of the photo.

Will the faces actually look like us?

The style sets the medium; the likeness comes from your photos. If someone is not quite right, add a clearer photo of them and try again — it's free, and nothing is printed until you order.

What occasions is a custom family portrait for?

The moments a family changes shape: a new baby, a wedding, an anniversary, grandparents far away — or simply finally getting everyone, dog included, into one frame.
